Belated Birthday

Jason was home this past weekend, so we finally got to celebrate my birthday. After I woke up Saturday morning, I went on a little "treasure hunt" to find my gift. He had written little poems and put them in envelopes all over the house for me to find - how cute is that?! The last one ended up saying that we were going to pick out my sunglasses - yay! I have been wanting them since January!

Jason took me out to breakfast at Cracker Barrel, then we went to the mall. When we got to Sunglass Hut, I couldn't find the sunglasses that I had tried on back in January - I was SO bummed! Grudgingly, I started trying on others, but nothing seemed to fit. I finally found a pair of Maui Jim's that were awesome! They have brown rims, kinda square, polarized, glass lenses that won't scratch - I love them! (They aren't available online; otherwise, I would post a picture)

On the way in, he had noticed that Wilson's Leather was having a sale, and being the leather guru he is, decided we needed to stop in there, too. He bought me a new purse and wallet - both super cute.

Yes, it's a very similar style to my new Coach purse, but I couldn't resist. It was a really good deal, and it will be my new everyday purse, since the Coach one is a little more "special." :)

From there, we did some errands and spent some time at Lowe's. Our sprinkler system hasn't been working, and now our grass is dead. We got a nasty-gram in the mail on Friday from our Homeowner's Association saying that we needed to take care of it within 15 days or we were going to be fined - how embarrassing! With the funeral, vacation, and Jason being gone, the sprinklers just didn't get fixed, so we made sure to make it a priority. I'm glad my husband is so smart; he was able to fix it, but at one point, we thought we were going to have to call the experts out, which would have been a bit pricey.

He also took me out to dinner both nights (doesn't it sound like all we did was eat?!). We weren't able to get our new tree planted, but that's on the to-do list for this weekend. He's gone again this week, but I was just happy to have him home. He more than made up for the time he was gone during my real birthday. :)
