Our New Addition

Yes, we did it! We picked up our new puppy this afternoon. We have officially had him for about 7 hours now. His name is Guiness, and he is a black and tan dachshund (miniature...we're not sure yet...)

Looking at his puppy pictures on Thursday, we couldn't see this white stripe down his chest, but it really adds a lot when you see him in person. He apparently got it from his mom (she is red and white)

We got him from a couple in Weiser (about an hour away from Boise) and he "grew up" on a farm with lots of other puppies. He's really skinny, so we don't think he's been getting much food (not for lack of being fed, but maybe he just didn't get enough?) He's already ate 3 (very small) portions since we brought him home!! He's already potty trained for the most part, and has been sleeping in a crate/kennel at night, so it should be really easy to train him.

Here you can tell his poor little ribs are showing :( It makes us so sad, but we'll fatten him up! He's going to the vet on Tuesday to start his vaccines. Apparently, the people who were raising him wouldn't take him to the vet - they like to do all of their own vaccines, but I'm not too sure that's a good thing. He threw up 2 times on the way back to Boise. Not sure if he gets car-sick, or if the shot they gave him right before we left made him sick. He's done really well ever since, though.

Rusty seems to like him, but wants to play too rough, so we'll have to keep an eye on that until Guiness gets bigger and puts on more weight. He will be 9 weeks old tomorrow, but I know he'll grow fast!

Chillin' on the couch with dad

His first toy, a new Nylabone (chicken flavored!)

His favorite past-time so far...he's slept the majority of the time he's been here!

I think he's going to be a very fun addition to our family. He's very lovable, and wasn't scared of us at all when we brought him home. He already loves Jason best, I think, which is good since Rusty is kinda my dog. :)

As I'm writing this, they are playing on the bed, and Guiness is barking at Rusty! How cute! His bark is so sweet! Now he's giving Jason kisses!

He is soooo cute! Sounds like Rusty likes him. Has he growled at him or anything yet? Good sign he hasnt been sick at your house. Probably just car sick or from the shot. Did he stop the slober?

Nope, Rusty seems to be doing really well with him. He likes to play with him, just a little too rough at times.
Guiness is doing really well; no more puke, no slober...so I think it was just one of those things yesterday. He seems so happy here, so that makes us feel good. :)

Awwww, congrats! He is really cute and a very lucky dog that he has you and Jason for owners. I bet he and Rusty are going to be best friends. Poor Sophie, she could probably do without another dog, haha.
