3-Day Weekend

I think I could have a 3-day weekend every week and be perfectly content! Unfortunately though, that just doesn't happen!
To start out, Friday night we decided to take Rusty to the 24-hour vet. He had what we thought was a scab on the back of his neck, right under his collar, but it kept getting bigger. I didn't think it was a tick, but wasn't sure since I've never seen one under the skin before. Anyway, to be on the safe side, we took him in. First of all, the little chunk weighs 15.5 lbs! (and no, it's not muscle!) Last time he was weighed was in July, and he was only 13.9 lbs. I think he tries to eat as much food as possible cause he knows he has to "compete" for it now. So come to find out, he has a benign cyst on his neck that younger dogs get sometimes. The vet removed it, put in a few stitches, and we were on our way, $200 later. We go in for his checkup tonight.
Trying to keep him and Guiness from playing was quite the challenge. Jason tried to make a little "wrap" for him to wear with an old dish rag, but it fell off the first night. He seems to be doing just fine, though.
Saturday Jason had to work, and I was so tired, I wanted to sleep in, but the dogs were ready to get up. So we putzed around the kitchen for a while... I'm not quite sure what I did. Jason got home around 11am, and I ended up going back to bed. What a life, huh?! Later that afternoon, we went shopping. I found a cute maternity shirt at Motherhood Maternity to wear for Thanksgiving, and we did some toy shopping for Mom's yearly toy drive for the women's shelter in Eureka.
Sunday afternoon Jason and I had a mini-Thanksgiving. I cooked a turkey, and we did a few other goodies to go with it. Love the leftovers! The rest of the day was just spent lounging around and watching Grey's Anatomy (we're half-way through Season 3).
Yesterday I had the house to myself (well, with the animals, of course) and I spent the morning cleaning. Then I packed up all of the toys to send to Mom, gave Guiness a bath, talked to my grannie, and started working on my Christmas cards. Yes, they are going to be homemade this year! I'm not sure I'll have the time after this, so I thought I would take the opportunity now.
What an exciting life I lead, huh? :) I was just glad for an extra day off, especially since I'm going to have another crazy busy week at work. At least it will only be 4 days, and Thanksgiving is next week!

Poor Rusters! As least you actually acknowledge the fact that he is a big overweight. Yeah for a new shirt. I watch Greys now too, although I'm on the current season. You can watch them all online after you have caught up. I'll try to call you soon, sorry we didn't catch up last night. I was outside picking up the poop, EIGHT shovel fulls later, I was done! How exciting is my life. Finals are this week and then I am going to start sending out your invites. HOw fun!

We have season 4 all ready to watch on the DVR, so we're trying to finish up Season 3 soon!
Gotta love having dogs sometimes!

It sounds nice the lounging part but the whole Rusty thing must have been tiring. Ash and I did cards the other day but we aren't making them homeade we aren't that ambitious.
