What an eventful week! (and not the good kind) I dropped Anthony off at daycare on Monday morning, planning to spend my day off working from home. About an hour later, as I'm loading groceries into the car, I get a call from his daycare saying he had a temperature and was coughing so bad he threw up. Uh-oh. He had been pretty sick the whole weekend, so I had kept him inside and we didn't go out anywhere. I called his doctor, who wasn't available, but we were able to get in that afternoon with another doctor there.
He still had a fever and was coughing bad, and hadn't wanted to eat. She listened to his lungs and tried an in-office breathing procedure, which he hated and I had to administer, and didn't sound any better afterwards, so she wanted us to go to the hospital and check-in. This time of year, there's a virus that goes around called RSV. It's basically a respiratory virus that isn't all that big of a deal for adults, but in babies under 2, can turn very bad in a short amount of time. Her concern was mainly pneumonia or another type of infection setting in. So off we went.
After a chest x-ray, suctioning up his nose and down to get mucus out, wires stuck up his nose to test for bacteria/viruses, and an IV put in, Anthony was exhausted and traumatized! I felt so bad for him cause I knew he didn't understand why everything had to hurt so bad.
Later that evening, we found out that he did in fact have the RSV virus, which they couldn't do much about. But he needed to be watched overnight, at the very least, to see if his fever would come down and how his oxygen levels were. Well, to make a long story short, we just got discharged late yesterday afternoon. It was a long week for all of us - Jason and I took turns staying there with him at night - but he woke up this morning feeling and looking better than he has in a while. No fever and he seems to have most of his appetite back. He's been released to go back to daycare on Monday, but we'll see how he does this weekend and then we can decide. He also got a bad ear infection on Wednesday, which doesn't help matters!
I took a few pictures with my cell phone camera while we were there.

He was never up for very long periods of time, but thankfully Jason brought some of his toys to play with. We were in the pediatric wing, so they brought him a few others to play with, and 2 books to take home!
Waiting to be discharged yesterday, back in his own clothes and ready to go home! Thanks to everyone for all of your prayers!
