Food Time!

The time has come... for food!

But first I wanted to get Byron used to sitting in the high chair. Luckily, ours has a toy that you can attach to the top and he played with that for a few days.

My mom told me about a product she had seen called The Baby Bullet (like the Magic Bullet, except geared towards making food for babies and toddlers!) LOVE it! It is a great system and so far I am very pleased. I started off by making peas and avocado.

The little storage cups have date dials on them so you can easily know how long they will stay fresh! I love the happy faces. :)

So the first day Byron tried peas. And... success! He was really into it, and opened his mouth every time he saw the spoon coming!

He's so cute with his little green pea face :)

So he has been eating food for about 10 days now. He has tried peas, avocado, and now he is on to sweet potatoes. It's suggested that when they try a new food, feed them that same food for 3-4 days to see if there will be any allergies. So far, so good. He really gets tired of the food by the 3rd day, though, so it's more of a struggle to get him to eat it. Once we are past the introduction phase, I will be able to mix it up a bit for him.
I have been getting all of the food at the local farmer's market, and I'm really bad about knowing when things are in season, so I just bought a bunch of stuff, let it ripen, steamed it if necessary, pureed it, and now it is in the freezer ready to be thawed. This making baby food thing is too easy!

SO cute!! Glad he is liking most things so far. Seems like a neat little system there. When does fruit come into play?

He is SO adorable, I just love his cheeks!! As for the "in season" foods, you should be good to go if you just keep shopping at the FM, as they don't generally carry stuff that's out of season. Keep up the amazing work, mama!! xoxoxo
