4th of July

Our little family had a fun 4th of July weekend. Friday I had the day off, but worked from home to make sure I was far enough into payroll come Monday morning. Saturday afternoon we took Anthony to the park in Meridian where they were having a 4th of July event. Basically music, jump houses, food, etc. It wasn't too crowded yet, and we were able to take him on the baby swings and the small slide. He loved the slide, but didn't care too much for the baby swing. So we took him on the bigger slide, but we overdid it - he wasn't too crazy about that one!

Here he is with Daddy, after we got back from the park

And with Mommy. Notice how we all have our flag tees on this year? :)
He was getting so flushed, we didn't want him to overheat, so we came home after about an hour. Little guys can't stay in 93 degree heat for very long! But he would've kept going had we let him!
Anthony took a nap while Jason made his homemade ice cream, a yearly tradition. He found out, though, that the bucket portion of the ice cream maker was busted, so it had to be thrown away. I'm sure he'll be on the look-out for a better one for next year. Anyone know of a good one?

Anthony also had his first experience with fireworks. 10:15 start time is much too late for him, so we didn't go and see the big fireworks, but we did do a few small ones at home, which he really liked watching. His favorite part, though, was being able to throw the small ones that make a crackling sound when they hit the ground. Here's a small clip Jason was able to take:

A guy after my own heart..those are my favorite ones too! I also love sparklers but they are a little higher maintenance. Love the video! What an arm he has-sometimes I have to throw them twice to make them pop!
