What's Up?

Typically the day before payroll is due, I'm scrambling to finish up, but alas, I have run into errors AGAIN this month that can only be fixed by IT. So, I'm playing the waiting game...

But that means time for a post! It seems like the weekend went by SO fast and I didn't really have any time to "rest," but I know that's not totally true. I vegged out last night during the Super Bowl and didn't do much of anything, so that has to count, right?

Saturday was a good day. After an hour and a half on the phone (with Jason helping out while I was having my eyebrows done) we got through and we able to get Rascal Flatts tickets - yay! I'm so excited about going to see them in March.

Jason and I have been talking a lot the past month or so about what kind of vehicle I will be getting next. I love my Avalon, but if I want a good trade-in or resale value, I will need to do it soon since it now has over 104,000 miles. First it was a Charger; then I started looking at the Dodge Nitros, the new Jeep Cherokees with hemi's, and even the Nissan Pathfinders. (Do we see a theme here with the small SUV's?)

As Jason was flipping through the channels early Saturday afternoon, he called me downstairs to watch this show on PBS that was comparing the newest smaller SUV's. After watching it, he did some research on the internet, and decided that a Toyota Rav4 looked good. Ugh! If you have ever seen an older one of these vehicles, you may share my distaste.

So, after a visit to the Dodge dealership, where I was not quite as impressed with the Dodge Nitro as I had originally thought, we headed over to the Toyota dealership. When I saw the Rav4, I thought - okay, this is kinda cute. When I drove it, wow, did I LOVE it!

The Limited edition, shown here, is an AWD, V-6, 269-horsepower little ball of fire! It seats 5, has pretty good cargo space, has reclining seats in the back, gets just as good gas mileage as my Avalon, is comfortable, and includes options for lots of fun things! We will, of course, look at a few others to make comparisons and see which would be the best. Who knows - in 6 months I could change my mind again!

I also found out this weekend that my sister is definitely, 100%, moving to Omaha at the end of the month. She and Jeremy found out that their second offer was accepted on the house, so it's time to get packing! It's going to be weird to know that she's not in CA anymore, in the tiny little town we grew up in, but in a city that is completely different. I personally think this is such a great opportunity for them, and how exciting to be homeowners at such a young age! Be proud of that! I am praying for their happiness, a lot of good friends, and that I will be able to make a trip out there sometime in April or May. :)

The Rav-4s ARE cute! I didn't like the old ones either, so I share your distaste...but when I saw the new one, I thought it was cute too! Plus, I have to say, Toyota is a good choice. My 4Runner has almost 130,000 miles on it and the only thing I ever had to replace was the starter (and oil...ok, and tires). And I am sure you will get great gas mileage :) The hippy in me has already decided that my next car will be a hybrid...but I want them to come out with a cool hybrid SUV first. I have standards ya know.

Toyota has a Highlander hybrid, but it felt a little like a mini-van to me when we sat in them. But it gets almost 40mpg! Crazy!
